GENERAL UPDATE: SNACSchool Registration, Archives 101 and More!

As we settle into December we take the time to reflect on the past year and plan for the next! With new energy and funding, we have been able to revitalize SNAC with a series of educational events open to the public, the creation of new jobs and partnerships, and what feels like a million ideas for moving SNAC forward.

The Edit-A-Thon on November 14 proved to be fruitful in several ways. In addition to creating and editing records, we trained new users on how to create and edit records and spent the day discussing the various ways to #IndigenizeSNAC with care and mindfulness. As our IMLS grant comes to a close next month, and as we prepare for our State of the Cooperative event on March 13, 2025, we look forward to divulging more information about what we learned and how we will implement those ideas in the future. Special thank you goes to the Folger Shakespeare Library for stepping in at the near last minute as we scurried to find a venue during the Federal shutdown.

Spring Events

As mentioned above, the State of the Cooperative is scheduled for March 13, 2025 from 12-5 pm EST. The event will be virtual, but registration is not yet open as we await planning in the coming weeks (so stay tuned!)

Registration has opened for our Spring 2026 SNACSchool Events! Go to our website or click the links below to register:

SNACSchool 5.0

Speaking of SNACSchool, we will be working over Winter break to bring you version 5.0! This will hopefully let us shorten the program and further develop an asynchronous version that sticks. The new program is set to roll out by the January 15th class above.

Archives 101

As we continuously strive for public education and making SNAC more accessible and well known, we thought it would be helpful to create a series aimed at demystifying archival vocabulary and concepts. Please enjoy and let us know if you think there are additional topics we should cover by emailing snac.cooperative@gmail.com

We have lots of other stuff planned for the Spring and we will keep everyone updated as new developments arise. In the meantime, enjoy the rest of the year and keep us in mind for your personal and professional growth journeys next year!
